Euroguidance Spain attended on 8 April the webinar proposed by Ireland on the research entitled ‘Effective Transitions Fund: the importance of practitioner integrity in supporting disadvantaged students’. The presentation was given by Siobhan Neary, Professor of Vocational Development Practice and Head of the International Centre for Guidance Studies at the University of Derby, UK.
Participants in the research were students in the final years of compulsory education who were socio-economically disadvantaged. Over a period of four years, direct intervention with these students took place through actions such as individual counselling, family engagement, employer involvement, workplace visits and individual follow-up. Finally, after this period, the results of the study showed that this type of guidance intervention greatly favoured the insertion into the labour market or the continuity in the training of these students.
