The European Parliament offers various internship opportunities for young professionals interested in gaining experience and knowledge about the functioning of this institution. These programs, which are carried out in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg, have the main objective of contributing to the professional training of participants and improving their knowledge of the work of the European Parliament.
The European Parliament offers two types of traineeships: Traineeships at the Secretariat (Schuman scholarships) and traineeships with Members of the European Parliament.
- Schuman Scholarships: The Schuman Scholarships are the most prominent internship program of the European Parliament. Lasting five months, these internships allow young people to gain experience in different areas related to the legislative and administrative work of Parliament. Calls are opened twice a year: from June 1 to 30 for the period from October to February, and from November 1 to 30 for the period from March to July.
- Internships with deputies: Apart from the Schuman Scholarships, deputies of the European Parliament also offer paid internships in their offices. These internships last between six weeks and five months, depending on the MPs' discretion, and take place in the Parliament buildings in Brussels or Strasbourg. Participants receive a monthly scholarship ranging between 858 and 1407 euros, depending on the duration and nature of the internship.
